You will be performing nursing practices under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) or physician, administer medication and physician-prescribed treatments, assist with physician clinics/physical exams, collect nursing assessment data and perform first aid for minor injuries.

We are looking for

Key Responsibilities: 
  • Performs nursing practice under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) or physician. 
  • Administer medication and physician-prescribed treatments. 
  • Assists with physician clinics/physical exams. 
  • Collects nursing assessment data. 
  • Performs first aid for minor injuries. 
  • Observes & cares for the ill, injured, or infirm within the scope of his/her education and skills. 
  • Provides direct patient care (e.g. monitors blood pressure, pulse, blood sugar & respiration; performs wound care; applies hot/cold packs; draws blood; performs bowel care; answers call light; assists and/or feeds consumers; inserts catheters, etc.). 
  • Complies with infection control procedures. 
  • Participates as a member of the treatment team. 
  • Communicates with nursing staff, physicians, family members, and other staff members as required to provide care to consumers. 
  • Participates in drills and responds to emergency procedures as required. 
  • Makes essential entries on records. 
  • Maintains medical records per agency, state, and federal regulations, policies and procedures. 
  • Performs and documents narcotic counts. 
  • Completes shift reports and other essential documents.
  • Explains medication purposes, dosages, and possible side effects to consumers. 
  • Assists with teaching students to be as independent as possible with activities of daily living. 
  • Participates in the Vocational Behavioral Enhancement program (e.g. writes/issues group behaviors, attends problem solving meetings as required; consults with other staff members regarding behavioral issues, etc.) and attends in-service training. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Your profile

  • You will need to have a BSc in Nursing.
  • Must be licensed in Kentucky as a practical nurse or must have a valid work permit issued by the Kentucky Board of Nursing. 
  • Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification.
